British Empire Ball (1920)

The British Empire Ball in London. Full titles read: “British Empire Ball - Some of the prize winning costumes at the great ball in aid of St. Dunstan’s.“ We are treated to various M/S ’s of the party members having a good time and posing for photographs in their fancy dress costumes. We see a variety of different costumes from the fantastic to the bizarre. One women is wearing a Medieval style dress with tassels. She has plaited hair, a crown and long veil, this is just one example, there are many periodic style costumes as well as costumes depicting well-known characters of past and present. We also see people posing in Regency style costumes, complete with eyeglass, Victorian, full military uniforms, Georgian, and Arab costumes. The shots are a mixture of individual and group photographs. The more bizarre costumes include a women who appears to be dressed up a bit like a wedding cake, and another lady dressed as a basket!
