India is building the ITER cryostat

In this nine-minute video from ITER India, follow the story of the ITER cryostat--the 3,850-tonne vacuum chamber that will surround the ITER Tokamak and provide a vacuum environment for the superconducting magnets. Built in 54 segments by Larsen & Toubro in India, the cryostat is assembled and welded into four large sections in a dedicated workshop on the ITER site and inserted in order into the Tokamak pit. Precision manufacturing, challenging welding, international collaboration ... the story has something for everyone!
