NJPW New Japan Cup 2022 First Round Update Over the last week, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has had quite a few events, including it’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and the beginning of this year’s New Japan Cup. Bringing back legends like Tatsumi Fujinami helped to make the event a nostalgic one for long-time puro fans. We moved into the first round of the New Japan Cup during the rest of the week and had some hard hitting matches including Kazuchika Okada vs. El Desperado and a contest that might mark Okada for life, Toru Yano and Taichi in another classic Yano comedy match, and Will Ospreay battles former rival Bushi in a ref-destroying contest.
