CODE: Shadow - “Ori’s Farewell“ (Ori and the Will of the Wisps Tribute/ Fan Piece)

Well, this may seem like some b.s. I am making up but I assure you that it is no lie: Late last night I got some more horrible news, one of my Mom’s cousins had passed away due to liver issues... I grieve even more now, knowing that I did not get to see him ALSO after almost 2 years of being separated from my Family.... Seems like I can’t catch a break, huh....? Rest in Peace, Marcus.. Anyways, I saw this piece of art by the amazingly talented YuuniHana and I challenged myself with writing a piece of music for it, based off of Gareth (himself)’s advice to “not get too bogged down in the theory, and to compose on feel first, and theory second. If it sounds good, it probably is, and if it doesn’t, it probably isn’t“. I had my dear younger brother join on the play-by-hand bandwagon (for the first time!) alongside me on his violin that you can hear on the recording here, as well as yours truly playing the piano.
