Никольская – одна из старейших улиц Москвы, существовавшая еще в домонгольский период. На своем веку она видела многое: крестные ходы во время эпидемий и торжественные шествия в честь первых викторий Петра I, коронации императоров и отряды революционных солдат, штурмующих Кремль. Здесь открылось первое высшее учебное заведение в России и первая типография. Позже она стала настоящим центром просвещения – в начале XIX столетия здесь располагалось 26 книжных лавок из 31 работающей в Москве. Сегодня большинство строений, расположенных на этой улице, признаны памятниками культуры местного, регионального или федерального значения. В 2013 г. после проведенной реконструкции она стала пешеходной. Никольская улица находится в самом центре столицы – в Тверском районе ЦАО. Она является одной из основных артерий Китай-города и тянется от Красной до Лубянской площади. Вероятно, название улицы произошло от Никольских ворот Кремля, откуда она начиналась. По другой версии, оно пошло от монастыря Николы Старого. Сегодня она – один из самых популярных туристических маршрутов столицы. Множество исторических и архитектурных памятников делает ее интересной как для россиян, так и для гостей города. Отсюда открывается великолепный вид на Никольскую башню Кремля. В последние годы она превратилась в площадку для проведения уличных выставок, инсталляций и различных фестивалей. Nikolskaya is one of the oldest streets in Moscow, which existed back in the pre-Mongol period. She has seen many things in her lifetime: processions during epidemics and solemn processions in honor of the first victorias of Peter I, coronations of emperors and detachments of revolutionary soldiers storming the Kremlin. The first higher education institution in Russia and the first printing house were opened here. Later it became a real center of enlightenment – at the beginning of the XIX century, 26 bookstores out of 31 operating in Moscow were located here. Today, most of the buildings located on this street are recognized as cultural monuments of local, regional or federal significance. In 2013, after the reconstruction, it became pedestrian. Nikolskaya Street is located in the very center of the capital – in the Tverskoy district of the Central Administrative District. It is one of the main arteries of Kitay-Gorod and stretches from Krasnaya to Lubyanka Square. Probably, the name of the street came from the Nikolsky Gate of the Kremlin, from where it began. According to another version, it came from the monastery of St. Nicholas the Old. Today it is one of the most popular tourist routes in the capital. The multitude of historical and architectural monuments makes it interesting for both Russians and visitors to the city. It offers a magnificent view of the Nikolskaya Tower of the Kremlin. In recent years, it has become a venue for street exhibitions, installations and various festivals.
