How to Start a New Sketchbook | Magical Gouache Landscape Tutorial

The first page of a sketchbook can be really daunting. There’s all this pressure to make that first spread something awesome- after all, this is the page you’ll see most; you’ll get a glimpse every time you open the sketchbook to paint a new page! So how can we create something great? Something that inspires us and sets the tone of the whole book? In this video I’ll share my approach as we paint the first spread in a brand new sketchbook! Happy painting! Ruth ✨ COLORS I used Prussian blue, primary blue, permanent middle green, cobalt turquoise light, primary yellow and titanium white. BRUSHES For brushes I use a 1/2“ angled shader, a 1/2“ flat, size 8 filbert, size 6 round petal and size 2 liner.
