👀👀 Back To The Future With Ruy lopez Trap By White ♟♟
This is an excerpt from the Ruy Lopez opening, known as the “Steinitz Defense Deferred,“ followed by the “Noah’s Ark Trap.“
e4 e5
Nf3 Nc6
Bb5 a6
Ba4 Nf6
O-O Nxe4
d4 b5
d5 Ne7
Re1 Nc5
Nxe5 Nxa4
Qf3 f6
In this position, White has just played 10. Qf3, threatening mate on f7 and simultaneously attacking the unprotected knight on e5. Black has to respond carefully.
Black’s most tempting move is:
10... fxe5??
But this leads to a beautiful trap:
Rxe5 d6
Re1
And now, if Black tries to defend with 12... g6, White unleashes the trap:
Qf6! Rg8 (forced)
Bg5
Black’s position is difficult to defend. If, for example, 14... Bb7, then 15. Nc3 Nc5 16. Rxe7 ! Bxe7 17. Re1 wins.
Therefore, Black may opt for:
14... Bd7
And now, White executes the final blow:
Nc3 Nc5
Rxe7 ! Bxe7
Re1
Black can’t prevent the decisive loss of the queen and mate on the next mov
