Rachel and the Reef

It’s not often I get a custom portrait commission when the person is so open to me incorporating various elements into her face. In fact, the first sketch version I created had all the fish patterns and corals surrounding Rachel’s face on the outside; but, to my surprise, she asked me to rearrange all the elements in a way to make the reef an integral part of her face.
