“Piazzolla – what a journey!“ French trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary explores the lively music of this Argentinian composer, who fused tango, classical techniques, and jazz to create the genre of “nuevo tango“. Discover Piazzolla Stories: Next to works by Piazzolla are selections by a variety of composers who have some kind of personal and/or musical link with him: the French-born Argentine ‘King of Tango’ Carlos Gardel; the Argentine modernist Alberto Ginastera; Johann Sebastian Bach; the virtuoso violinist Niccolò Paganini, and the Frenchwoman Nadia Boulanger, celebrated above all as a teacher of musicians as diverse as Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Quincy Jones, Philip Glass, Burt Bacharach … and Astor Piazzolla. Recorded with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo and conductor Sascha Goetzel. Featuring, as guests, accordionist Richard Galliano and guitarist Thibaut Garcia.
