“Death to Russia!” – crowd chants anti-Russian slogans in Iran during the funeral of president.

The funeral of former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, held on January 10th, 2017, in Tehran, was marred by anti-Russian slogans “Death to Russia!” (“Marg bar Russiye!”). Interestingly, the crowd was chanting “Death to Russia,” rather than the traditional “Death to America”. Iranian state TV was forced to play somber music during the live broadcast of the funeral, for fear of the sound of the protests coming through. Read more: 1) 2) 3)
