Train Horn Honk at the Simpson Railroad

The Simpson Railroad was the last logging railroad in the United States. Since 2018, the Peninsula Railway and Lumbermen’s Museum has been working to restore the railroad as a tourist attraction and working museum. The group has hosted two “Horn Honk“ events where collectors bring their locomotive horns to be run on one of the railroad’s two “SW“ type switcher locomotives. In this video, we will see clips from these events and take a look at several different air horns being run on the locomotives. We’ll also take a look at the history behind the horns and talk about some of the ways collectors identify how old horns are based on certain characteristic features.
