MOVED TO TEARS IN ANTWERP, BELGIUM (LONELY PLANET BEST IN TRAVEL 2018) | Eileen Aldis

Antwerp, Belgium has been named one of Lonely Planet’s top 10 cities for Best In Travel 2018. After visiting this historic Belgian city, Marc and I aren’t surprised at all. When we decided to go there, we didn’t know what to expect and were taken by surprise. We thought Antwerp had a lot to offer and wished we had more time there. The people were friendly, the buildings beautiful, and the food delicious. We started our day exploring at the oldest house in Antwerp - now a protected monument - when we realized it was right around the corner from our Airbnb. It was built around 1480 and has survived six wars and more than five hundred years. Next we dipped into a vintage store called Riot because I have a weakness for thrift shopping and was on the hunt for a warm winter coat. After that we walked to Grote Markt (the main square) where you find the town hall and a statue of local hero, Brabo.
