General view of guests entering Cranleigh Parish Church and crowds gathered around to catch a glimpse of cricketer Peter May arriving for his wedding to Virginia Gilligan. Peter May is photographed with the best man. Cricketers Reverend David Shepherd, Jim Laker, Godfrey Evans and Denis Compton all arrive. Four bridesmaids, one of which is the bride’s sister Joanna, get out of a car. Photographers snap away. One of the bridesmaids is wearing an eye-patch. The bride walks along, accompanied by her father, Harold Gilligan, another former England cricketer. After the service the newlyweds pose for photographers outside the church. Zip pan to exterior shot of Chelsea Old Church. We then see Olympic gold medalist Chris Brasher and tennis ace Shirley Bloomer coming out of the church after their wedding ceremony.
