Over the last few weeks, my 2010 Kawasaki Z1000’s engine was making a weird clicking/ticking sound during idle and under acceleration. My MPG dropped from 38MPG to 28MPG, acceleration was slow and sluggish and I was desparate to find the cause and fix for this, and I was lucky enough to quickly find the cause and solution:
Before you check valve clearance or timing chain tensioner for engine clicking sound on your bike, CHECK THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD NUTS & BOLTS FIRST!!! If those are lose, they’ll leak sound of the engine parts working(clicking noise). Make sure to use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts and nuts properly. Then warm up engine, let it cool and retighten to spec.
