“Homines Sovietici“ — English subs and translation
Soviet Union, 1991

Uncompromising manifesto against the communist ideology and its carriers, composed on the eve of the collapse of the Soviet Union. The author of the song, Igor’ Tal’kov, denounces Soviet society and castigates its way of thinking, imposed from above. At the same time, he does not distance himself from his people and blames the authorities for turning the free Russians into a crowd of “stamped Homines Sovietici”. The song became a kind of anthem of the right anti-Soviet-minded youth, competing with Viktor Tsoj’s more left-liberal hits “Changes!“ (“Peremen!“) and “We will act next“ (“Dal’she dejstvovat’ budem my“). The text mentions Nina Andrjeeva, a kind of “leader“ of the anti-Perestroika movement in the USSR, who was an idol for neo-Stalinists.
Portrayed by Igor’ Tal’kov (1956—1991), a famous Russian singer and one of the first RAC musicians in the Soviet Union, who promoted Monarchist and Anti-Communist ideas in his songs u
