Gloria Scott ~ Just As Long As We’re Together 1974 Disco Purrfection Version

Gloria Scott of Port Arthur, TX was signed to Casablanca Records who got Barry White to produce her back in 1974. The Love Unlimited Orchestra was in fine form under the direction of Gene Page, who was Barry White’s secret weapon. The sound separation on this alternate version is great! Those shimmery strings and funky rhythm tracks sure make me want to do the locomotion! The song did reach #14 on the disco dance chart in early 1975, but for some mysterious reason the best single she recorded was NOT included on the only album Gloria ever released. The only way to get it is a vinyl single or the digital download single. In any case, the album sales were impacted by a flood of counterfeit copies that trained eyes could immediately identify from the faulty artwork to typesetting and spelling errors. Gloria’s album was the second LP ever issued by Neil Bogart’s Casablanca Records, KISS holds the distinction of having the first LP ever issued by them.
