Scratch building cheap and easy window frames - the sticky label technique for model window frames

Have you ever wanted to make your own window frames for your model railway buildings? Do you want to avoid cutting tiny holes with your scalpel? Do you want to avoid paying for expensive brass frames, or chunky plastic ones? If this is you - then the Sticky Label Technique may be just what you need! In this video I show how I made these delicate window frames from sticky labels for my N Scale station building. (The technique works for all gauges, including 00 gauge and O gauge). My window frames, which are both straight and curved, include white elements which are less than a third of a millimetre wide. The technique is easy - you only need to be able to cut a straight line with a ruler. There are no corners to cut into, and no fiddly bits to fit your scalpel into. The technique is cheap - by using food packaging as the glass, I worked out that each of my windows cost a fraction over a quarter of one pence. And that includes the cost of the scalpel blade and the printer ink. By using cheap sticky labels to make the window frames, you too can make your own model railway window frames look exactly how you want, and exactly as thin and fine as you want.
