When swimming, not only in the backstroke but also in the front crawl, it’s essential to rotate your shoulder, NOT YOUR HEAD!
I see a lot, especially in beginner swimmers, rotating head and shoulders simultaneously, but unfortunately, I’m afraid that’s not right and doesn’t look good either.
Next time you go swimming, try rotating your shoulder, keeping your head still in the same position and looking up all the time. It will tremendously help you learn the correct technique in your swim journey.
