It’s not one we do often, but when we do it always hits hard. Reggie and Jon have a really nice section of improv in the middle on the piano and bass in what I refer to as the “dream sequence”. When I wrote this song many years ago, sometimes I would see a bunch of military guys in the crowd and shy away from playing it because I didn’t want anyone’s feelings to get hurt. Slowly I started just trying it out in those situations, and I found it was the military guys that would come and thank me for this song after the show. That always validated the truth in these lyrics for me. I wrote this song for my brothers and sisters in the military. Bring the troops back home!
