Creating Ultimate Gorilla Part 1 Design & Sculpture

April 2009. Thanks to the success of our first gorilla suit (and its frequent use in commercials and featured films), ADI had the opportunity to build an updated, more realistic mighty ape. Sculpted by Steve Koch, Tully Summers, and Davis Fandino, our new “ultimate“ gorilla would feature the ability to program dialogue into the 35 servo motors controlling expressions in the head (designed by Dave Penikas). Our new gorilla made its debut in the film ZOOKEEPER and has since made numerous appearances in television series (HARRY’S LAW, MASTERS OF SEX, 2 AND A HALF MEN) and commercials, both domestic and international.
