12 Lead ECG Placement of Electrodes | EKG Sticker Lead Procedure

12 lead ECG (EKG) placement of electrode stickers: This tutorial will demonstrate the lead placement for the 12 lead ECG of the limb leads (RA: right arm, LA: left arm, RL: right leg, LL: left leg) and chest leads (V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V6). A 12 Lead ECG allows the nurse to assess the electrical activity of the heart. After obtaining a 12 Lead EKG the nurse can assess the patientโ€™s heart rhythm and rate. EKG electrodes are placed on the skin, and it is essential the nurse correctly preps the skin before placing the electrodes. For a 12 Lead EKG, you will need: 10 electrodes, alcohol prep (to clean the skin), abrasive tape, and hair trimmers. It is essential that excessive hair is clipped to prevent artifact in the EKG reading. Notes: More Nursing Skill Videos: EKG Interpretation: EKG Teaching Tutorials:
