Process flow charts help us with that understanding. They show the sequence of process steps. Here are some common symbols that we could use on our process map:
- Rectangle – activity
- Diamond – decision
- Ellipse – start/end
- Arrow – directional flow
- Circle – connector (on-page)
- Pentagon – connector (off-page)
- Rectangle with Curved Bottom – a document
- Rectangle with Interior Vertical Lines – a predefined process
