Sing we and chaunt it, Madrigal by Thomas Morley (1595) on Renaissance Recorders in Octaves

“Sing we and chaunt it“ from Balletts to Five Voyces, Book 1, published in 1595. I played this using one 4’ choir of recorders and one 8’ choir of recorders; in other words, with all five parts doubled in octaves. The 4’ choir uses a Ganassi alto in g by Ralf Netsch, an Praetorius alto in g, tenor in c, and basset in g by Francesco LiVirghi. The 8’ choir uses a Praetorius tenor in C, basset in g, and bass in C by LiVirghi and a contrabass in F by Friedrich von Huene. This was recorded for the Madrigal Sing Along we held as part of our virtual offerings for CDSS Early Music Week at Pinewoods, since we were unable to attend camp in person due to Covid.
