Moscow regional state theater “Russian Ballet“ is 35 years old. 35 years of endless touring around the world, the performances in this beautiful building, a lot of performances all over Russia and Moscow region, and everywhere the theatre is a huge success. In all the years that have passed Vyacheslav Gordeev, the artistic director, the People’s Artist of the USSR, the professor, brought up a lot of talented artists, dancers, ballerinas, who have become leading artists in many theaters of Europe and America; brought up to become the stars they want to visit and work in other countries, and Vyacheslav Mikhailovich always gives his consent. It is a pity to lose good specialists, good staff, but Gordeev’s nobility and special decency lies in the fact that he gives everyone an equal freedom of action, all these sublime, purposeful paths that lead to the high art. He even helps and invites some of them on the theater’s tours; and I must say that besides the artists who are raised by our theater and Gordeev, there are many artists from different theaters, especially the Bolshoi Theater and the Mariinski Theater, who goes on tours with our theater. Today, for example, the principal dancer of the Mariinski Theatre Anton Korsakov will dance Pas de deux from the ballet Giselle at our anniversary evening. He is a very good dancer, he went on tours to Brasil and Mexico with us, and he is very grateful to our theater. We have five anniversaries today: The Honored Artist of Russia Yana Kazantseva, The Honored Artist of Russia and Laureate of international competitions Svetlana Ustyuzhaninova, The Honored Worker of Culture of Moscow Region Galina Dedyukhina, The Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Vitaly Akhundov and Viktor Davydov, also the Honored Artist of Russia. I got this title in this theater, and I’m immensely proud of the fact that for many years of work next to Vyacheslav Gordeev, my life, my personal life, my creative life rose with the theater and Vyacheslav Gordeyev, who, rising and elevating himself, rises and elevates all the artists and the whole theater. In my opinion the phenomenon of Vyacheslav Gordeev is unique because he is a Russian dancer, Soviet dancer, the star of the Bolshoi Theatre, the world ballet. Their pleiad, the pleiad of Grigorovich, the whole world knows Vladimir Vasiliev and Maximova, Plisetskaya, Michael Lavrovskii, and of course Vyacheslav Gordeev and Nadezhda Pavlova. It was the best duo of the world. They were invited everywhere, and this is the only couple who were an inconceivable artistic success around the world. The day Nadezhda Pavlova and Vyacheslav Gordeev were dancing at the Bolshoi Theater, all the ambassadors accredited in Moscow, Russia, certainly were on this performance. About a hundred of embassy cars were next to the Bolshoi Theater. Therefore the artistic life of Vyacheslav Gordeev is incredibly successful, incredibly sublime. But I would like to say about another merit, because being a great artist he was a true patriot, what can be said about only a few. Well, there were lots of talks in press and on television about Nuriev, Baryshnikov, Makarov. It was time they remained abroad for their own reasons, leaving the scene of the Mariinski, the Bolshoi theater, leaving their country, their homeland. They started to work in other countries, they have worked successfully, but they were not people of our state any more. I can remember the wonderful words of Ivan Grozny, who wrote to Kurbsky Andrey: “You saved your body, but you sold your soul”.It means leaving your country is like selling your soul to devil. That is why despite the unthinkable fees he got, Vyacheslav Gordeev was never able to leave Russia, Moscow, his theater and the Bolshoi Theatre. So at the present holiday, we are grateful to him for gathering us, the anniversaries, and organizing an evening for us, that not every artistic director of the ballet group would do. All of us who are close to him are grateful, because he is such kind of creative personality, that ennobles everything around with his light. And the phenomenon of Gordeev in Russian art is a rare and unique phenomenon. I know for sure that his future is infinite in the path of ascension. We express our gratitude to everyone who came to the performance today. The performance is sold out today as always in all countries of the world: in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Australia, Indonesia or China.
