Israel launched a series of strikes against Hezbollah targets across southern Lebanon this morning following intelligence reports that the group was planning an attack in retaliation for the killing of a senior commander last month.

Around 100 Israeli Air Force jets hit targets in over 40 towns and villages across Lebanon’s south on Sunday morning in one of the largest set of strikes conducted against the group since fighting between the two sides escalated in October.
After the strike, Hezbollah claimed it had launched more than 320 Katyusha rockets at Israel, hitting 11 military targets, in retaliation for the assassination of one of its commanders, Fuad Shukr, by Israel last month.
