Drunken Woman Unaware how Many “Mississippis” She Drank Before DWI Arrest

Around 8:00 PM on February 24, 2023, officers from the Tinton Falls Police Department were dispatched to the site of a motor vehicle accident at Hope Road and Sycamore Avenue. When Patrolwoman Lynelle Scanlon first arrived on scene, she noticed that 30-year-old Anedris Dela-Rosa’s BMW had sustained severe front end damage. Anedris admitted to striking the rear of the other driver’s Chevy at the intersection, but denied being under the influence. The other driver insisted she was stopped at the red light, while Anedris insisted that she struck the other vehicle when the light turned green. Both vehicles were determined to be disabled. As Patrolwoman Scanlon was running the other driver’s motor vehicle records, Corporal Scanlon and Patrolman Ballas arrived on scene. Based on her suspicion of intoxication, Patrolwoman Scanlon had Corporal Scanlon administer field sobriety testing. Anedris told Patrolwoman Scanlon that she was heading home after leaving work in Asbury Park. After Corporal Whalen explained the instructions for the Walk and Turn test, Anedris was unable to follow instructions or walk in a straight line. Her stance was wide and she took overlapping steps. During One Leg Stand test, Anedris was unable to maintain her balance or keep her foot in the required position for longer than 2 seconds. When Corporal Whalen asked again how many beverages she had consumed, Anedris initially responded that she had one drink. Shortly afterwards, she stated that she did not know how many “Mississippis” she had consumed, apparently confusing the method of counting with the number of alcoholic beverages. Given her inability to complete the field sobriety tests, Patrolwoman Scanlon placed Anedris under arrest for driving under the influence. While transporting Anedris to police headquarters, Patrolwoman Scanlon noticed that Anedris had slipped her cuffs and removed her seat belt. Patrolwoman Scanlon stopped her vehicle at the intersection of Hope Road and Edison Avenue, and Corporal Whalen responded to assist with placing the handcuffs on her once again. As she began to transport Anedris to the station, Anedris told the officer that she was urinating in the police car as an apparent act of revenge. After Anedris was transported to police headquarters, Patrolwoman Scanlon noticed that her pants were unbuttoned and that there was urine on the floorboards. She eventually agreed to take a breathalyzer test. The Alcotest results indicated a BAC of %, more than double the legal limit. After she was processed, Anedris was released to a sober adult after he signed the Potential Liability Waiver form on her behalf. She was issued the following summonses: Operating under the influence, reckless driving, and careless driving. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider making a donation to support this channel on Venmo (drive-thru-tours).
