Total solar eclipses are super rare occurrences. Every 375 years, on average, one will happen in a specific spot. The last total solar eclipse that the lower 48 states could see was in 2017, and the one before that was in 1979. In the 48 contiguous states, you will have to wait until August 23, 2044, to see this occurrence again.
