Godzilla 2014, Re-creation of 2013 Comic Con Trailer Monster Footage

Notes On This Partial Trailer Re-Creation: The music you hear playing is Seigfried’s death and funeral music by the composer Richard Wagner. This is NOT what played during the trailer, but they did play ominous music similar to this. There were no sound effects. There was no dialogue. Only music. The insect monster is re-created here to the best of my memory. I have confirmed its design with others who saw the trailer, and they agree that it is similar to what they saw. What you see is only as accurate as my memory. I have nothing except what remains in my mind’s eye from a single viewing two months ago to refer back to. That’s my disclosure as far as accuracy goes. Hopefully we will all see soon enough how accurate my memory turned out to be. *UPDATE APRIL 2014* Many have asked me why the creature that I (and others) saw at Comic Con 2013 looks so different from the ’Muto’ seen in Toys and in brief shots in the trailers and TV spots. This is difficult to answer without seeing the finished film. It could have been a placeholder design for the Muto, or it could be an early form of the Muto, or maybe we’ve only seen what ONE of the Mutos looks like in the footage released so far. I do know that the start of the airport scene was shown at SXSW, so anyone who attended that screening can compare how the Muto in that footage looked to the one in the recreation above. *UPDATE MAY 2014* Now that the movie is out, I think it’s pretty clear that the Muto design changed significantly from Comic Con 2013 to the film’s release.
