Frippertronics in REAPER (How to make your DAW sound like a dying tape machine).
In this tutorial I take you through setting up Reaper to sound like a feedback system made from a pair of reel to reel tape recorders in the same way as Brian Eno and Robert Fripp famously did in the mid 1970s (though the technique was in fact pioneered by Terry Riley over a decade earlier.
There are many soulutions out there formusicians wishing to integrate this effect into their work. To my ear most of them are missing the organic qualities of the sound of the technique.
To do this we-ll be using some of Reapers native plugins plus some bits of Share and donation ware. I talk about these in the video itself but here are links to where you can find them.
Chow Tape VST can be found here...
Airwindows VSTs are all here...
This is a really great way to stop your music sounding too precise and clinical as well as a way that you can move away from the screen for a while and just enjoy making music.
