Brown Wood Owl Call : Lansdowne (Uttarakhand)

Brown Wood Owl (Strix leptogrammica) is a large, solemn-looking brown owl with deep black eyes. It varies in plumage throughout its range but can be identified by its characteristic pale face with dark edges , fine barring on wings and underparts, and sooty outline around the eyes. It inhabits lowland and montane broadleaf forests . This video was made on 18 March 2021 at Lansdowne (Uttarakhand), where a Brown Wood Owl (Strix leptogrammica) was sighted vocalizing while being perched on a Banj oak (Quercus leucotrichophora) tree , giving short bursts of its peculiar resonating hoots, piercing the silence of the night.
