Minors Involved in Production of Estee Lauder & L’Oreal Perfumes in Egypt: Report | Firstpost Africa Luxury perfume brands have been linked to child labour in Egypt, where kids as young as five work night shifts picking jasmine. According to a new investigation by BBC, ingredients used by suppliers to Estee Lauder & L’Oreal for their perfumes were picked by minors. The report says that the companies that own these luxury brands are squeezing budgets resulting in very low pay, and Egyptian jasmine pickers say this forces them to involve their children. When the report’s findings were presented to the companies, they were met with ensuring statements and a little negation.
