Russia’s advanced Sokol radar designed to detect mini drones

Russia’s advanced Sokol radar designed to detect mini drones At the 4th Congress of Young Scientists held in the Sirius Federal Territory from November 27-29, the new-generation Sokol (lit. Falcon) radar system was presented. Developed by JSC “Strela“ in collaboration with young scientists from Tula, the radar is designed to detect mini and micro UAVs. Vladimir Grebenkin, an engineer at JSC “Strela,“ tells Sputnik that the system can detect small drones up to 5 kilometers away with an accuracy of around ten meters. Using digital phased array antenna technology, the radar ensures dome protection for the object it is installed on, with azimuth scanning and multi-channel elevation angle viewing capabilities.
