Creature | A Frankenstein Animatic

I heard the song ’Creature’ by Half Alive months ago, and have been wanting to make some sort of animatic for it ever since: it is terrifying how well it fits Creature, especially the original Frankenstein novel’s version (definitely leaned into Creature’s more vengeful and bitter traits for this vid here). Anyway, let’s talk art style! Really wanted to do something different with the visuals for this one - the simplistic geometric style was something I tried out last year with the Penny Dreadfull animatic that I had been itching to try again, this time with added textures and mouvement. The gold accents, especially for Creature’s scar’s were inspired by the japanese art of kintsugi, the art of repairing broken porceline with gold: highlighting Victor’s original intents of beauty, but only drawing more attention to the parts Creature finds most gruesome of himself, the parts that are not his own ...
