Some captive Goffin’s cockatoos, including this one named Figaro, learned to use a sharp stick to poke through a thin piece of paper, allowing them to then insert a longer straw to knock free a cashew. Here, Figaro grabs both tools needed before flying up to the box — a sign that he recognized both tools as part of a set needed to complete the job.
