“Justin Trudeau needs to come clean” World wants evidence, not absurd accusations against India
India-Canada relationship is at an all-time low after Canadian PM Trudeau’s absurd allegations against India. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau alleged India’s involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India has outrightly rejected the Canadian Govt’s claim and called the allegations “absurd and motivated”. Both countries witnessing a worsening of bilateral ties at a time when India demanding strict action against Khalistanis. Meanwhile, the world leaders have expressed their deep concern over India-Canada diplomatic tensions. As the Canadian PM levelled serious allegations against India, world leaders have ‘sought evidence, not accusation’. Canadian LoP Poilievre on Sept 19 criticised PM Trudeau for his grave allegation against India without evidence. Poilievre warned PM Trudeau to come up with all the evidence possible, else both nations will face “real” diplomatic tensions. Australian FM Penny Wong said that Canberra is closely monitoring the situation as the probe is still underway. US Envoy to India Eric Garcetti said that there should be a space for investigation before anybody leaps to judgment. Notably, Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Canada’s Surrey in June 2023. He was one of India’s most-wanted terrorists carrying a cash bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head.
