Tokyo Story: Analysis of Film Form, Auteur Characteristics and Context

A close analysis of Ozu’s Tokyo Story, one of the greatest films of the twentieth century. Generally considered to be ’characteristically Japanese’, the film’s emotional resonance is universal.
