Identify the structural components of the juxtaglomerular apparatus and describe the function of each.
Differentiate between
Proximal convoluted tubule, distal convoluted tubule
Renal pole and vascular pole.
Renal cortex and medulla.
Vascular components of the kidney: arcuate artery, interlobular artery, afferent and efferent arterioles of the glomerulus, vasa recta
Identify: transitional epithelium, urinary bladder, glomerulus, Bowman’s capsule, Bowman’s space, renal corpuscle, umbrella (dome-shaped cells), macula densa, basement membrane, medullary ray.
Describe the function of the transitional epithelium
Explain the use of PAS staining to differentiate between proximal and distal convoluted tubules.
