Reaching Java - backstrap weaving

A short review on a self created type of an advanced foot loom as you may find on Java Island in Indonesia. Its sculpture of a buffalo 🦬 fits the year of 2021. Usually bigger sized warp beams get supported by two poles driven into the ground, what enables to keep legs relaxed side by side and not spread. On top this Java Looms use a flat warp, that demands to fix these types of advanced foot looms with poles driven into the ground. This kind of ancient foot loom is a great historical hint of what might have happened throughout the Austronesian migration. On one side it reminds the foot loom types we are used from Taiwan, on the other hand it shows the beginning development of these more or less advanced foot-driven backstrap looms to the Indonesian types of stilt looms.
