The Honest Whore - Thomas Dekker

The Honest Whore was written by Thomas Dekker in 1604. It follows Hippolito’s romantic quest for the Duke’s daughter, Infelice. As the Duke disapproves of Hippolito, he has faked his daughter’s death. In this scene, Hippolito talks to a painting of his love, before beginning a soliloquy on remembrance and mortality.
