Contrary to Western expectations, anti-Russian sanctions have not reduced the volume of oil exports from Russia, but have merely changed the geography of its exports. Now, China, India, and Turkey are its main buyers, according to Sky News. Moreover, Russian oil continues to flow to the European Union and the United Kingdom, albeit indirectly, through countries like India.
It’s worth noting that these detours increase the cost of Russian oil considerably for residents of the European Union and Britain. But who really cares?
