️One of the Soviet Union’s best pilots, Aleksey Maresyev, lost both legs during World War II, but was able to return to action and went on to defend his homeland. Maresyev was born on 29 May 1916 - this is confirmed by an archive certificate. But during the registration of military documents another date was marked by mistake - 20 May 1916.
