Bicycle tuning fork - physics of toys // Homemade Science with Bruce Yeany
The front fork off of a bicycle makes a nice addition to a tuning fork set. The frequency of this one is very low, about 54 Hz (vibrations per second). The sound of fork is very deep and the camera does not do a good job of picking it up but otherwise, it makes for an interesting piece of equipment. My students have found it to be entertaining to hold it against various surfaces, and in doing so it can be heard in other classrooms adjacent to mine.
