Rats Use Whiskers to Follow Airflow

This real-time movie shows rats in a behavioral experiment conducted in Professor Mitra Hartmann’s lab. The left panel shows the rat following air blown from a fan toward a hole with a reward. The right panel shows the tracked rat position on top of the wind map. Hartmann’s group found that rats rely on their whiskers to follow wind to find foot and mates and avoid predators. Read more:
