ETL Speaker Series: Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI

Ilya Sutskever is the co-founder and chief scientist of OpenAI, which aims to build artificial general intelligence that benefits all of humanity. He leads research at OpenAI and is one of the architects behind the GPT models. Prior to OpenAI, Sutskever was a co-inventor of AlexNet and of Sequence to Sequence Learning. He also co-founded DNNResearch, then became a research scientist at Google Brain after Google acquired the company. Sutskever was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2022, named to the MIT Technology Review 35 under 35 list in 2015, received the University of Toronto’s Innovator of the Year Award in 2014, and received the Google Graduate Fellowship for 2010-2012. Sutskever earned his Ph.D in computer science from the University of Toronto and was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford with Dr. Andrew Ng.
