Hardwe’re - Comin’ From Da Hood (1995)

Discogs: Hardwe’re, a group hailing from Forest Hill in Newark, NJ, composed of Kmack, Little 7, and Hahz the Rippa, is a testament to the rich hip-hop culture of early ’90s Brick City. Formed in 1992 after a contest at Club 88, where Hahz and Little 7 placed first and second respectively, they represented the vibrant scene of their time but, despite their activity, didn’t have a physical release until 1995. Their first 12-inch release in 1995, “Comin’ From Da Hood / Intimidation,“ produced by Hahz the Rippa, Phlex Dog, and the legendary Clark Kent, is considered a classic and the most intriguing record of their career. It showcased their gritty, raw style and marked their presence in the hip-hop world. The music video for “Comin’ From Da Hood,“ uploaded by the video’s producer and director Wayne J. Keeley, offers a glimpse into their artistic vision. Hardwe’re continued to drop a few more 12“ on Non-stop Entertainment and featured on Mark Ecko’s tape “Reborn - Underground Airplay Vol. 5.“ However, despite a promising deal with Rocafella Records instigated by Jay-Z, internal issues led to their disbandment three months into the deal, leaving fans without a full-length album. Their story is one of potential, brief flashes of success, and the all-too-common challenges that can derail even the most promising groups.
