He was a scholar at the famous Sangeet Research Academy of Kolkata. He hails from Ghatanji, a small town in Vidarbha, Maharashtra. He was born in 1973, in a family of music loving educationists. His initial training in music was under the Guidance of eminent Gurus, Shri Bhalerao, D.V Panke, Vidushi Sumantai Choudhari and Late Padma Bhushan Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan. He received a Masters Degree in Indian Classical Vocal Music in 1997 from Amaravati University. Prasad has also sung for the Marathi movie Thaang by renowned director Amol Palekar.
