1949 Stick McGhee - Drinkin’ Wine, Spo-Dee-O-Dee

This first major hit for Atlantic Records (and recognized as one of the precursors of rock ‘n roll) was the most successful recording by guitarist-singer-songwriter Granville “Stick” McGhee. It was a re-make of McGhee’s earlier 1947 version for the Harlem label.
