This is the closest they’ve ever come to the house. Maybe because it is injured and smelled the ham bone I had put out for the Crows and Racoons. I received a response back from NYS DEC today. I want to thank them for getting back to me. I really do appreciate it. The nice thing is, I learned something new! So one more photo of this Coyote. GOD Bless Hi, Chester. Thank you for your patience while I waited to hear back from Wildlife. Their response is below: “This looks to be a coyote displaying a nice, thick winter coat! The snout is narrow, with large areas relative to the body size. That being said, eastern coyotes do have a certain amount of wolf genetics in them. It is not a hybrid in the sense that a wolf mated with a coyote and this is the offspring, but it almost certainly has some wolf in it from past interbreeding. On average, New York coyote ancestral DNA is made up of about 65% coyote, 25% wolf, and 10% domestic dog.“
