Goodbye Gertrude 8/9/06 - 14/01/15

Thank you for the love our darling Gerta xx 9/9/06 - 14/01/15. We will miss you and hold you in our hearts forever. Please always stay by Ptolemy’s side, as you did since the day he was born. Tragically, Gertrude was diagnosed with lymphoma whilst Ptolemy (now 6) and his mum were visiting family in the UK for Christmas. Ptolemy’s dad Paul had stayed in Australia with Molly & Gertrude and was able to look after her and make her last few weeks as comfortable and as full of love and care as possible. She deteriorated quickly and tried to hang on to for Ptolemy’s return, but sadly was unable to. Gertrude left us, with Paul by her side, just 3 days before we got home and we never got to say a proper goodbye. This has broken our hearts. At the end of this video clip is a photo of Gertrude just 2 days before she died, lying in Ptolemy’s bedroom, just waiting, waiting. She was an endearing, loving, funny, quirky and beautiful girl.
