Deceased Person Found Inside Shopping Cart Burning (08/04/24)

Date: 08/05/24 Time: 2:00am Where: Bronx River Rd and Sherwood (Over Pass) What: Deceased body found burning inside a shopping chart WCPD/YPD/Empress EMS responded to a call reporting a budy burning inside a shopping cart, once they arrived they located the deceased individual inside the shopping cart. YPD has launched a death investigation. At this time, we do not know if the deceased is a male or female. No further info at this time. ####### OFFICIAL UPDATE from our YPD: Just before 2am this morning, the Yonkers Police Department responded to the area of the Oak Street bridge, just inside of our jurisdiction border with Mt Vernon, on a report of a body found. Officers confirmed an apparently lifeless body and began an investigation. Officers and Detectives are still on scene at this active death investigation at this time. More info may be released as the investigation progresses.
